L’exposition aux écrans chez l’enfant est en nette augmentation et peut altérer son développement cognitif, suscitant des inquiétudes en pédiatrie. Cette étude descriptive transversale de type CAP, menée auprès de 62 mères d’enfants hospitalisés, visait à analyser leurs connaissances et pratiques ainsi que les modalités d’exposition. La majorité des mères (89%) étaient informées, et les femmes mariées ainsi que celles introduisant tardivement les écrans citaient plus souvent l’âge de 3 ans comme seuil. Cependant, l’âge moyen d’introduction était de 18,95 mois. À l’hôpital, 17% des enfants étaient exposés, principalement pour l’apaisement (39%), souvent moins de 30 minutes/jour. Une exposition lors des soins concernait 39% des cas, avec accompagnement maternel interactif dans 61%. Un changement de comportement était observé dans 50% des cas, avec un impact jugé positif dans 74%. L’exposition précoce était associée aux mères jeunes, primipares et aux premiers-nés. L’horaire et l’accompagnement influençaient les effets comportementaux. Les résultats soulignent un besoin de renforcer l’éducation des mères et des soignants.
