Charlotte was immensely enjoying driving the gravel backroads, reminiscing of youthful days spent on the prairie farmlands of Eastern Washington with her first love. A bend in the road landed her on asphalt. Taking the first gravel road off the hot summer sun’s black asphalt, she spotted a thicket of old-growth trees hiding a section of land in the middle of the wheat fields and swale creek ground. The enchanting place beckoned to her. Even without her fellow kindred-spirited, sleuthing friend Helen and the warning of the dilapidated 'No Trespassing' sign, Charlotte couldn’t resist the urge to investigate. Pure wonder and excitement filled her when she spotted the old abandoned but well-preserved pioneer schoolhouse inside the thicket of trees. It seemed encapsulated in time, and the mystery of it why it stood abandoned fascinated her. With enlisted help from Helen and new friend Nate, they search for the answers to the reason why the schoolhouse had been abandoned and yet suspended in time they set forth to sleuth through history of the schoolhouse in Nehaw Valley. What Charlotte discovered in their endeavors to solve the 1927 mystery of the disappearance of Miss Jenny was peace for the past, excitement looking toward the future, and home is always where the heart is open to love fully in. Just as Helen’s story unfolded in House in the Canyon, Charlotte’s Letters in the Schoolhouse will equally grab you--their kindred-spirited friendship keeping them busy with sleuthing.
