Let the Music Speak tells the little-known history of a pivotal time in the evolution of the sounds we are all familiar with, from Elvis Presley to the Rolling Stones and beyond, including well-known stars of the Forties along with many lesser known but significantly influential musical creators. The book’s unusual month-by-month structure highlights the simultaneity of development across genres and styles, with elements of cultural context interspersed, and it even provides barcodes linking to playlists that connect the sounds of the period with those that they built on and those that grew out of them, encouraging the reader to hear the music along with experiencing the book. This is an expression that grew out of love of an art form, by an individual who didn’t set out to write a book but instead let the art form guide him along, to let the music speak. 6
