The Minor Prophets are for this present age. They speak to our day of spiritual decline. They relate God’s perspective on the spiritual decline of Israel over hundreds of years until deportation and captivity were inevitable. Even after Israel was allowed to return to the land, formalism and ritual worship prevailed. God seeks those who worship in spirit and truth. God, however, knows the future and His Word is sure. Israel will be restored. Whatever God says will come to pass is certain. Understanding God’s plan is not difficult when approached intelligently with sound interpretive principles. The story is fantastic. It is a God-sized story and difficult only because it taxes the human mind to more significant perceptions than usual. It makes us uncomfortable. We are not in control.This book aims to teach and improve understanding of the Minor Prophets. It is not a commentary, although some may use it as such. Each chapter is a lesson initially taught at approximately one-week intervals. Each lesson builds upon the previous teaching.The book is designed to be used with an open Bible and concurrent Scripture reading. The student can assess whether the instruction is consistent with the Scripture. Lively and exciting discussions are encouraged, and learning is facilitated. After all, the Word of God is guaranteed to impact hearts; Isaiah 55:11 teaches God’s Word accomplishes His purpose.
