Non seulement dans la sphère religieuse, mais aussi dans le domaine social et entre les personnes, la reprise des idéaux moraux qui sont en relation avec l′idée des péchés mortels joue un rôle essentiel dans la présentation de soi-même envers la conception du monde présent. Certes, cela correspond plutôt aux fidèles qui s′adaptent absolument aux réalités et lois réligieuses et pourtant, les incroyants sont incontestablement influencés par l′accroissement visible de la signification des sept péchés mortels pour la vie en communauté.Ce mémoire veut ébaucher le point de vue de l′Église catholique face à la notion des péchés mortels aussi bien que le développement de l′idée de ces péchés capitaux, de l′Antiquité jusqu′au Moyen Âge. En outre, la transformation du thème des sept péchés mortels en art est un composant du texte. Finalement, nous nous occupons du traitement des allégories représentant les péchés mortels dans le Roman de la Rose écrit par Guillaume de Lorris et Jean de Meung.
