In a country at war, information restrictions for tactical and strategic reasons are of course legitimate. But by the same token, they also have an impact on university research, which needs access to information and to the field, for reasons that are not those of the media, but of analysis and the establishment of academic knowledge. Under such conditions, is research still able to question the crisis, while maintaining a neutral position, or at least without value judgments? Can it produce knowledge on the state of society, without being caught up in the crisis agenda, including on a psychological level? And yet, aren’t crisis situations by definition a classic state of society, another way of talking about social change, or even a change in the social order? This is why the humanities and social sciences are, in a way, cut out for crisis analysis, since their job is to understand the nature and causes of social problems, so that public authorities can anticipate the coming crisis, or even find a way out of it.
