L’histoire suit les aventures de deux personnages comiques, Dumont et Durand, qui cherchent ������ obtenir de l’argent en se faisant passer pour des magots, des statues chinoises sacr�����es. Les deux hommes trompent les habitants de leur ville en pr�����tendant que les magots peuvent gu�����rir toutes sortes de maladies, mais leur escroquerie est finalement d�����couverte. La pi�����ce est une satire de la soci�����t����� fran�����aise de l’�����poque, avec des personnages caricaturaux et des jeux de mots humoristiques.
