Ce livre est une relecture, voire une actualisation de la pensée njoh-mouelléenne du développement. Dans ses écrits, Ebénézer Njoh-Mouellè (1938...) s’efforce de promouvoir un développement au sens large du terme. Pour lui, le développement d’une société nécessite une appréciation non seulement de ses ressources économiques, mais aussi de ce qui importe réellement pour les individus : leur liberté, leur bien-être, leur formation, leur éducation. Car, pour que chacun puisse vivre mieux dans la société, il faut se soucier aussi du développement humain. C’est pourquoi, chez Njoh-Mouellè, s’il y a un développement qu’il faut nécessairement promouvoir c’est bel et bien celui qui est susceptible de faire passer l’homme de l’état médiocre à l’état excellent. Tel est donc le trait essentiel de la pensée njoh-mouelléenne du développement. Dès lors, ce présent travail de recherche se propose de montrer comment la philosophie Njoh-Mouellè prônant l’idée d’un développement proprement humain est susceptible de contribuer à la construction des citoyens responsables et d’un développement durable en Afrique.
