Leçons sur la Foi rétablissent la compréhension fondamentale de la foi et de la spiritualité quiont été négligées, mises de côté et oubliées. Son objectif est d'enseigner au lecteur ce qu'estla foi, les objets sur lesquels elle repose et les effets qui en découlent.Le visionnaire Joseph Smith, fils, a personnellement édité et attesté les Leçons sur la Foi en1834, qui ont ensuite été adoptées comme Ecritures en 1835 lors d'une conférence généralede l'Eglise de Jésus-Christ des saints des derniers jours par consentement commun. LesLeçons ont ensuite été publiées en 1835 en tant que première grande partie des Doctrine etAlliances (D&A), constituant la partie "doctrine" du volume, dans une police de caractèresplus grande et plus visible que la partie "alliances" qui contenait les révélations et lesinstructions qui suivaient.En 1921, un comité a discrètement supprimé la partie "doctrine" (Leçons sur la Foi) desDoctrine et Alliances. Depuis lors, toutes les grandes sectes les ont discrètement retirées deleur corpus d'Ecritures, mais pas d'un consentement commun. Elles restent donc aujourd'huides Ecritures canonisées.Cette Edition de la Restauration des Leçons sur la Foi a été republiée en 2019 par un groupeindépendant de bénévoles dans le cadre d'un effort continu visant à récupérer les Ecrituressacrées, à rétablir le texte original de manière aussi précise et complète que possible, et à lepréserver pour les générations futures.
