Raimund Haindorfer untersucht die Lebenszufriedenheit und den subjektiven Pendelerfolg von Ost-West-Pendelnden. In seiner Studie fokussiert er sich auf das Pendeln aus Tschechien, Slowakei und Ungarn nach Österreich in der Central European Region als exemplarisches Beispiel für neue Facetten der Ost-West-Mobilität in einem Europa nach 1989. Anhand einer Kombination aus quantitativen und qualitativen Methoden präsentiert der Autor wichtige Bewertungsdimensionen des Lebens im Kontext des Pendelns aus Sicht der Pendlerinnen und Pendler. Ferner demonstriert er, dass das Ost-West-Pendeln subjektiv sehr positiv bewertet wird, trotz einer Vielzahl negativer Arbeitsmarkterfahrungen.
