Leander Salamander lived among the rocks that surrounded a small pond. He had made a cozy home of grass and mud under the rocks and had a pleasant life. He thought that something was missing in his life, but he didn’t know what it was. He had good friends, Sammy Snake and Myrtle Turtle, so he was never lonely. He buried himself deep in the mud under his nest during the winter months and waited there for the warming rays of sun to announce that spring had arrived.
