Dr. Dennis C. Golden, President Emeritus of Fontbonne University and a former Marine officer, calls the book ?a sterling presentation [in which Mansfield] has gone broad and deep on the style, substance and essence of leadership.? According to Mansfield, a friend encouraged him to write a book about leadership, and both realized that they know personally many highly successful people whom they could ask for submissions, just as he did with his 2018 book, VIETNAM: Remembrances of a War. These would include defining leadership, how best to inculcate leadership principles in the young and how to make it a lifelong pursuit and refinement. After all, says Mansfield, leadership is the sine qua non for success and must be effective for any undertaking to succeed. Some submissions do not focus on leadership itself or its principles, but rather on thought leadership.
