L’Estonie reste l’un des pays les plus innovants et les plus audacieux au monde lorsqu’il s’agit de trouver de nouveaux mécanismes démocratiques pour la participation des citoyens grâce à l’utilisation des TIC. Dans cet article, nous nous rendons compte que l’adoption du vote numérique via Internet dans ce pays, qui a été utilisé pour les élections locales et nationales depuis 2005, doit être comprise au-delà de sa fonction instrumentale en tant que mécanisme réduisant les coûts de la participation politique, mais peut également contribuer à une compréhension sociale de la plus grande légitimité de ses gouvernements, à travers la perspective de la sociabilité contemporaine en relation avec leurs souhaits pour leurs dirigeants. Ainsi, nous analysons les données des élections estoniennes entre 2005 et 2011 à la lumière des facteurs économiques et sociopolitiques considérés comme pertinents pour vérifier leur influence sur le changement de la dynamique de la relation entre l’État et la société, en termes de perception de la confiance entre les deux.
