Sa longue carrière de haut fonctionnaire dans les institutions internationales (la Food and Agriculture Organization, l’OMS) est marquée par son intérêt pour les grands procès d’un XXe siècle secoué par la décolonisation, les guerres en Europe et les génocides. À son expérience des difficultés et des réussites des organismes transnationaux se mêlent ses connaissances sur le développement du droit international. Aujourd’hui âgé de 98 ans, l’un des derniers témoins de Nuremberg exprime plus que jamais sa conviction profonde de l’intérêt d’une justice internationale.
