Le Poids de l’Histoire raconte l’histoire poignante de Makinal et Moudiadikanda, deux amis d’enfance issus d’un village reculé, dont les parcours, marqués par la douleur, le sacrifice et la persévérance, s’entrelacent jusqu’à changer le destin de leur nation. Après la mort tragique de leurs parents lors d’une campagne de vaccination ayant mal tournée, Makinal et Moudiadikanda se retrouvent confrontés à de lourdes responsabilités. Moudiadikanda, malgré son potentiel académique, renonce à l’école pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille et financer les études de Makinal à l’étranger. Alors que Makinal poursuit des études en fiscalité, Moudiadikanda fait face à la mort de la sœur de son ami et à celle de sa propre mère, tout en continuant à tenir son rôle de pilier familial. De retour au village après l’obtention de son diplôme, Makinal découvre avec douleur les drames survenus en son absence, mais il exprime une profonde gratitude envers Moudiadikanda. Avec son soutien, il réussit à convaincre son ami de reprendre ses études, le formant au métier de conseiller fiscal. Leur complicité et leur intégrité les poussent ensuite à fonder ensemble un parti politique, le Parti d’Avenir Unifié.
