L’âge d’or de la Grèce antique, la Renaissance et les Lumières sont trois époques historiques qui ont une importante intention philosophique et éducative sous-jacente. Dans cet ouvrage, l’image du fil d’Ariane dans le labyrinthe où habite le Minotaure de type Léviathan est utilisée pour illustrer le phénomène culturel caché de la continuité des idées qui soutiennent notre voyage culturel à travers les âges. Les idées d’Aristote et de Kant sont les principaux domaines de réalisation de notre histoire culturelle. Le volume I de cet ouvrage, s’est largement concentré sur le déclin de l’influence d’Aristote dans le voyage des idées jusqu’à une philosophie de Rousseau incluse. Le volume II se concentre sur l’expansion des idées aristotéliciennes dans la philosophie de Kant et sur le déclin ultérieur de la philosophie kantienne aux mains des 'penseurs modernes' influencés par Hegel, la science et l’économie. L’'ère moderne' est à nos yeux une appellation erronée car le prochain candidat au titre d’'ère' doit contenir des événements d’une importance plus grande que l’atterrissage sur la lune et la création des bombes atomiques. L’âge suivant que nous évoquerons dans le volume III sera l’âge du cosmopolitisme philosophique provoqué par les multiples forces de mondialisation que nous connaissons aujourd’hui.
