Les infrastructures coloniales, qui servaient autrefois au transport des minerais (or et fer), ont joué un rôle crucial dans le développement de l’État de Kelantan. La reconnaissance de cet héritage post-colonial intéresse de plus en plus les jeunes Kelantanais et la nouvelle génération d’administrateurs. Cependant, le gouvernement de l’État n’est pas certain de reconnaître les ponts car, pour certains Kelantanais, ils représentent l’exploitation et l’oppression de l’État par une puissance étrangère et la déshumanisation de la population en tant que paysans. L’histoire des colons et les traces matérielles de leur présence et de leur culture ne sont pas, même aujourd’hui, assumées pacifiquement comme un patrimoine endogène à préserver et à conserver. Pour cette raison, leur conservation est considérée comme inutile car ils symbolisent une réalité destinée à être laissée derrière soi. Malgré cela, la destruction de ces ponts très solides ne serait pas pratique car, dès le premier jour de leur fonctionnement, il ne fait aucun doute qu’ils ont été construits pour transporter de l’or, des minerais de fer et d’autres produits pour les Britanniques, mais qu’en même temps ils assuraient la mobilité des nombreux villages isolés.
