Cette mère célibataire finit par se marier, mais à l’âge de dix ans, Yola découvre que le mari de sa mère n’est en réalité que son beau-père. Cette révélation la pousse à quitter la maison très jeune, ce qui l’oblige à mûrir rapidement et à se préparer à un avenir plein d’incertitudes.
