Aquella amistad comienza desde que son esclavizados, convirtiéndose en canteros del mármol, ermitaños, herreros en una pobre herrería en una ciudad costera, terminando por luchar en las filas de los mayores ejércitos durante la reconquista. Los largos años durante la Primera Cruzada en la conquista de Jerusalén, donde reyes y emires serán recordados por sus hazañas. Y junto sobrevivirán a innumerables aventuras y adversidades en la edad media, hasta que las religiones y el amor se interpondrán entre ellos.
