Cette étude a porté sur le degré de participation de la population aux projets de protection de l’environnement en Chefferie de Buhavu, et la partie de cette population ciblée étant celle ayant participé à un projet plus récent, et dont l’âge minimum était de 15 ans. Le degré de participation de la population aux projets de protection de l’environnement en Chefferie de Buhavu dans la phase d’identification reste très faible à 17%. Il s’avère ainsi que dans la phase de planification le degré de participation de cette population aux projets de protection de l’environnement reste très faible, soit 15%. Nonobstant, même si cette population ne participe pas à la phase d’identification et de planification de ces projets, son degré de participation dans la mise en œuvre de ces projets s’avère élevé à 69% du fait que c’est elle qui en est bénéficiaire. Cependant, au niveau de l’évaluation des projets, le degré de participation de la population reste faible à 12% surtout que les initiateurs des projets s’en vont sans pour autant faire une évaluation des résultats du projet sur la communauté et son environnement surtout que l’élaboration des projets n’avait pas été participative.
