L’apnée obstructive du sommeil (AOS) est un trouble du sommeil caractérisé par des interruptions répétées de la respiration dues à l’obstruction des voies respiratoires pendant le sommeil. Les symptômes courants sont les suivants : ronflements bruyants, respiration haletante, somnolence diurne excessive et maux de tête matinaux. Les facteurs de risque sont l’obésité, l’âge et les caractéristiques anatomiques. Le diagnostic passe généralement par une étude du sommeil et les options de traitement comprennent des changements de mode de vie, des appareils de PPC, des appareils buccaux et parfois une intervention chirurgicale. Il est important de consulter un médecin en cas de suspicion de SAOS.
