Luftdurchlässige, extrem flüssigkeitsabweisende Gewebe weisen eine hohe Beständigkeit gegenüber verschiedenen Flüssigkeiten auf und verfügen über selbstreinigende, antiadhäsive und schmutzabweisende Eigenschaften, die für die Entwicklung von Funktionsbekleidung sehr nützlich sind. Allerdings weisen die meisten flüssigkeitsabweisenden Gewebe eine geringe Haltbarkeit auf. Dieses Buch befasst sich mit der Entwicklung langlebiger, extrem flüssigkeitsabweisender Gewebe und untersucht neuartige Eigenschaften flüssigkeitsabweisender Gewebe. Daraus sind zwei neuartige Konzepte zur Herstellung langlebiger, flüssigkeitsabweisender Gewebe hervorgegangen. Durch die Kombination von flüssigkeitsabweisenden und flüssigkeitsabsorbierenden Eigenschaften auf verschiedenen Seiten eines einlagigen Gewebes wurde eine neuartige, gerichtete Flüssigkeitstransporteigenschaft beobachtet.
