Os diques de lamprofiros são caracterizados por estruturas em forma de caixa (armadilha física) preenchidas por mineralização proveniente do interior, e os seus feldspatos e micas são relativamente alterados para minerais argilosos (armadilha química). São comuns três fases: a primeira (fase de alta temperatura), caracterizada pela formação de Au e Ag nativos associados a minerais sulfurosos primários, tais como pirite, galena, cassiterite, litargirio e arsenopirite. A segunda fase (a temperaturas mais baixas) é caracterizada pela formação de minerais sulfatos secundários. A terceira fase está relacionada com a calcificação formada após o óxido (alteração supergênica) e é caracterizada pela formação de calcite e minerais de urânio.
