Laila Aurora Wright is a divorced woman who lives with her 2 older siblings (Daniel and Thomas) widowed mother (Eleanor) on the family farm in Pennsylvania.  The father, deceased Judge Henry Wright, built the farm as a refuge from the city and it’s unwelcomed climate. She relocated there after her divorce from her still living husband, Francis ’Frank’ Weiner. She and Frank have no children, save their golden retriever named Simon. When Laila was 18, she joined the U.S. Army and became a Ranger. She trained with the Forsvarets Special Kommando unit, the Jegertroppen, in Norway. There she was taught survival skills, counter-terrorism operations, urban warfare, long range patrolling and various martial arts/hand to hand combat skills. It was in Norway where Laila met Frank. Two years later they were married. One year after that they divorced. Standing at an athletic 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing only 115 pounds, one might think she was a push-over. So, after leaving the service, Laila joined the U.S. Marshals where she proved to be anything but a push-over.  Laila’s U.S. Marshal partner, Carolyn Pryme is also her best friend and confidant. During a funeral procession for a fallen police officer, many law enforcement personnel from around the country lined the streets awaiting the passing of the fallen comrade’s hearse. Meanwhile a group of domestic terrorists was planning to utilize a faux police vehicle to invade the memorial service and gun down as many police as they could. It was Laila who discovered the plot and ended the threat, much to the chagrin of her superior officers. From that moment on her fellow marshals declared there was a new law in town, Marshal L.A.W.

  • Mississippi Goddamn
    Jonathan Norton
“Some shows have warnings for strobe lights. Some have them for loud gunshots.  Some for smoke.   MISSISSIPPI GODDAMN, a new play by Jonathan Norton should have one for intensity.   Granted, anyone attending a play about civil rights pioneer Medgar Evers set in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi, should expect some strife. Blood in the battle for racial equality is no surprise, but f...

  • The Lady From Maxim’s
    Georges Feydeau / Laurence Senelick
“It seems to me that for fertility in droll inventions, the perpetual outpouring of unforeseen misunderstandings, for the inexhaustible gaiety of dialogue, Feydeau’s new play is superior to everything he’s written so far. The most astonishing thing is the sureness with which everything is controlled, explained, justified, in the most extravagant buffoonery. The cross-purpose...

  • Fit For A Queen
    Betty Shamieh
“Plenty of glamorous backstabbing, diva dissing and sexual double-crossing…has every right to claim the name Dynasty for itself.  But the title character in Betty Shamieh’s bouncy, bumpy comic melodrama is the real thing. A queen, I mean, and not just of the self-dramatizing type. Scratch that. She’s more than a queen. She’s a pharaoh, one Hatshepsut, who reigned over Egypt ...
