In a world where manners and common sense have gone by the wayside, an unlikely ambassador named Lady Louise is using all four paws to help others understand the importance of kindness in today's chaotic and undisciplined world. Lady Louise, the First Poodle-In-Waiting to Beloved Queen of PoodleLoo, is eager to travel the world. The queen, who does not wish to travel, takes Lady Louise's wishes to heart and appoints her brother to become Lady Louise's travel friend. But Lady Louise thinks that Prince Brother is boring, and she's uncertain about having him as her travel companion. For his part, Prince Brother is so busy reading that he doesn't want to travel, either. Beloved Queen, however, is the queen, and she insists that Prince Brother make plans for a world tour with Lady Louise. Before she leaves the castle on her trip that will take her to many countries, Lady Louise is summoned by her mother, the Loveliest Lady Cecile, for a chat. During her time with her mother, Lady Louise discusses the important role that a lady has in all things. Loveliest Lady Cecile helps her daughter understand what it means to be a lady and why a girl's 'life as a lady' shows strength, courage and kindness. The inspiration for the story is a rescued Standard Poodle named Louise who lived in four places before she was 20 months old and found her home with writer Karen Petit. The book moves girls from the 'princess' phase to real life where they will find that being a lady with kindness and manners helps open doors to any place they choose to live or visit or work. Few girls can be princesses -- that life is reserved for royalty and fairy tales. But all girls can be ladies, regardless of race, class, education or socioeconomic status. And who better to show them the way than a sweet poodle named Lady Louise who is the world's 'First Lady of Kindness and Grace.' When she leaves PoodleLoo, Lady Louise travels to Paris in Book 2 where she will use the manners she has learned from her mother and Beloved Queen, and she learn more about polite behavior in this charming and beautiful city! 3
