Francisco de Miranda de padre Canario y madre Venezolana, nació en la Caracas colonial de 1750 un 28 de marzo. Murió en la prisión/fortaleza de las Cuatro Torres de La Carraca, Cádiz el 14 de julio de 1816, reo de la Inquisición y de la Corona española de Fernando VII acusado de herejía y traición. Su crimen fue haber dedicado su vida a la independencia de la América Española y ayudar a la de los Estados Unidos de América y contribuir desde la primera fila a la Revolución Francesa. Llegó a general del ejército francés y su nombre está grabado entre los héroes de la Revolución de Francia en el Arco del Triunfo de París. Es considerado como el Primer Americano Universal. Masón y espíritu de su tiempo, fue un ilustrado que se codeó con la intelectualidad política y artística de América y Europa. Esta novela es la ficción de lo que pudieron ser sus últimos días de vida en la Isla de San Fernando, frente a la ciudad de Cádiz.
