Héctor Greslebin fue un notable personaje que desde 1919 y siendo ya arquitecto comenzó a publicar, investigar, dar clases, conferencias, logrando en diez años un lugar de reconocimiento latinoamericano. Pero la situación que vivió Argentina entre 1929 y 1930 que culminó con el golpe militar de Uriburu lo dejó fuera del ámbito académico, lo marginaron y tuvo que exilarse con otros intelectuales. Su regreso no lo sacó de los márgenes, sus ideas se enrarecieron y se le aplicaron leyes como saqueador y traficante de arqueología en lugar de reconocer su aporte a la ciencia excavando La Tambería del Inca en La Rioja. El libro reconstruye su accidentada biografía e interpreta las causas que llevaron, como a tantos otros intelectuales, a que un joven brillante fuera destruido por el sistema simplemente por tener diferencias políticas con los grandes personajes de su tiempo.
