La Religieuse est un roman de Denis Diderot, publié en 1796. L’histoire suit Suzanne Simonin, une jeune femme forcée par sa famille à entrer dans un couvent contre son gré. Le roman explore ses luttes contre l’autorité religieuse, son désir de liberté et son expérience de la cruauté et de la manipulation au sein de l’institution monastique. Diderot utilise le récit de Suzanne pour critiquer la corruption et l’injustice des ordres religieux de son époque. La Religieuse est un plaidoyer poignant pour la liberté individuelle et une dénonciation des abus de pouvoir.
