Este es el primero de varios libros con temas del folkor de Puerto Rico que, la autora espera, sean del agrado de muchos niños con deseos de aprender sobre la cultura puertorriqueña. La reina y el coquí fué escrito cuando la autora estaba en escuela intermedia. Este cuento fué inspirado por el señor Don Juan Boria, quien poseía ese talento único de declamar poesía negroide. La historia comienza con la elección de la Reina Primorosa cuando, de repente, han sido interrumpidos por la presencia de Gatolán. El problema se desarrolla por una serie de malos entendidos pero, al final, todo se aclara y una lección es aprendida. El segundo manuscrito fué inspirado por un suceso entre un coquí y la madre de la autora. Es una conversación imaginaria entre un coquí y una jovencita. El mensaje es que algunos tienen el talento de persuadir y convencer a otros a llegar a un acuerdo pacíficamente.
