Cette monographie analyse les particularités de la politique religieuse du gouvernement russe et le système de gestion des affaires spirituelles dans la steppe kazakhe au cours de la période indiquée. Il est démontré que les documents d’archives, associés aux publications des contemporains, permettent de dresser un tableau complet des particularités de la politique confessionnelle de l’État. Le facteur islamique dans les mouvements de protestation contre l’expansion russe au Kazakhstan aux XVIIIe et XIXe siècles est également examiné. Il est prouvé qu’il n’y a pas eu de manifestations d’opposition à grande échelle sur des bases religieuses en réaction au pouvoir impérial (telles que des révoltes ou des soulèvements armés) dans la steppe kazakhe, bien qu’il y ait eu de nombreuses tentatives pour soulever les Kazakhs contre la domination russe sous des slogans de gazavat. Les formes de résistance pacifique à la politique confessionnelle du gouvernement sont décrites. Le livre s’adresse aux chercheurs, aux doctorants, aux étudiants et à tous ceux qui s’intéressent à l’histoire de l’islam au Kazakhstan.
