La nature a toujours été une source d’inspiration pour les différentes disciplines créatives. Les artistes, designers et architectes ne se contentent toutefois pas d’imiter les formes et les fonctions naturelles, ils tiennent également compte de contextes complexes. Ce travail explore la manière dont les designers se sont inspirés de la nature au cours des 150 dernières années sur le plan esthétique et fonctionnel. Les fondements historiques et théoriques des trois époques les plus importantes de cette période sont illustrés et approfondis par un créateur : Josep Maria Jujol, Alvar Aalto et Ross Lovegrove se sont particulièrement intéressés aux aspects esthétiques et fonctionnels de la nature et montrent ainsi un large éventail de réflexions des designers sur les principes naturels.
