L’objectif est de mettre en évidence les situations de marché et d’éducation liées au domaine du design et à la marque de la responsabilité socio-environnementale. Le problème découle de la nécessité d’améliorer et d’étendre la responsabilité sociale et environnementale au sein de la communauté, ainsi que de l’évidence que la production, l’utilisation et l’élimination des emballages mettent en danger l’environnement et la société. Ce livre indique que l’autocontrôle fait partie de la solution à la consommation irresponsable. Cependant, il considère que cela nécessite un vaste processus d’éducation formelle et informelle afin d’apporter des changements dans la pensée, les attitudes et le comportement du public consommateur.
