Emilia Pardo Bazán fue una escritora y crítica literaria española del siglo XIX que desempeñó un papel importante en la renovación de la literatura española de su época. En su obra, La literatura francesa moderna. El Romanticismo, Pardo Bazán aborda el movimiento literario francés del Romanticismo, describiendo sus características y su influencia en la literatura y la cultura francesas. El Romanticismo surgió en Francia a mediados del siglo XVIII y se caracterizó por una estética basada en la emoción y la subjetividad, así como por un interés en la naturaleza, la fantasía y la historia. Según Pardo Bazán, el Romanticismo revolucionó la forma en que se concebía la literatura y sentó las bases para el desarrollo de nuevos géneros y formas de expresión artística. En este ensayo, la autora describe tanto los aspectos positivos como los negativos del Romanticismo y cómo este movimiento influyó en la literatura francesa y en la cultura en general.
