Nel contesto del multilinguismo congolese, questa ricerca è stata condotta tra gli adolescenti e gli adulti del Plateau des Residents des professeurs. I risultati dell’indagine indicano che il francese è usato frequentemente dagli individui in quasi tutte le situazioni, rendendolo una lingua dominante a casa e a scuola. L’atteggiamento nei confronti delle altre lingue nazionali, in particolare dell’inglese, è positivo sulla base dei dati presentati. Lo studio mirava a confermare o confutare le ipotesi delineate nei capitoli precedenti. I risultati mostrano che l’inglese è considerato la lingua più bella dal 48,8% degli intervistati, la lingua più facile dal 43,3% e la lingua più utile dal 46,6%. Il francese è percepito come la lingua più educata dal 64,4% degli intervistati. Mentre il francese rimane la lingua predominante, l’inglese occupa la seconda posizione nelle preferenze dei partecipanti. I risultati della ricerca, nonostante si basino su un campione ridotto, sono statisticamente significativi. Gli adolescenti e i figli adulti risiedono a Plateau des Residents, un’area residenziale nella township Lemba di Kinshasa, una delle principali città della RDC con un paesaggio linguistico diversificato.
