El tema central de esta investigación es la Inteligencia Emocional (IE) del profesor, pero para tener un mejor entendimiento de la conformación de la IE se tomó en cuenta el desarrollo de la personalidad explicada por tres de los principales teóricos que aportaron datos importantes para la conformación de esta. Se demostró a través de la teoría cómo la personalidad va de la mano con la IE del profesor, en el que de acuerdo al desarrollo emocional que tuvo cada profesor permitió la conformación de su personalidad y por lo tanto un adecuado o inadecuado manejo de su inteligencia, es decir, las fallas presentadas en el desarrollo emocional de la persona según algunos autores de la corriente psicoanalítica repercuten en la estructuración de una personalidad débil y como consecuencia un inadecuado manejo de su IE, esto por lo tanto influye específicamente dentro del salón de clase y en la relación docente- alumno en su desempeño académico.
