Elena de White recibió su visión del Gran Conflicto en la primavera de 1858 en Lovett’s Grove, Ohio. Dos días después, Satanás trató de matarla para impedirle presentar a otros lo que le habían mostrado. Pero, apoyada por Dios en la realización de la obra que le había sido encomendada, escribió una descripción de las escenas que se le habían presentado, de modo que en el verano de 1858 Jaime White publicó el libro 'El gran conflicto entre Cristo y sus ángeles y Satanás y sus ángeles'.
