Este libro recorre la historia del Instituto de las Hijas de San José entre 1923 y 1968. Fue la época de mayor expansión, dado que se extendió por otros países de América, desde Argentina a Estados Unidos, y por varios países de la Europa occidental (Portugal, Francia, Alemania, Italia). El autor analiza los beneficios que recibió la sociedad en los lugares donde hubo comunidad y también lo que supuso el crecimiento del número de Hi-jas de San José y la financiación de todas es-tas actividades. Ello da piea contextualizar la labor del Instituto, de manera que desfilan por el libro muchos tipos sociales característicos de la época en cada una de esas regiones del mundo. Es particularmente original e interesante, para la historia de la guerra civil española y la posguerra, la visión que los documentos aportan. 10
