This book presents a diachronic study of social dynamics during the Iron Age to Roman period in the territory of the Artabrii (northwest Iberian Peninsula), a region characterised by constant contact between geographically distant cultures. This book analyses the changes in its communities from the end of the Bronze Age (9th century BC) until the first centuries after the Roman Conquest (2nd century AD): it begins with the disappearance of open settlements and the emergence of fortified villages in conspicuous settlements, continues with the development of different social dynamics within the fortified landscape and ends with their conquest and integration under the Roman administration. Key aspects such as architecture, religion, transcultural contacts or metalworking are discussed, interweaving a historical and archaeological perspective with an anthropological vision of the past and exploring how Artabrian communities changed over the years.
