México presenta gran riqueza en especies de hongos debido a la gran biodiversidad, climas, orografía y su posición continental. Muchos de estos hongos han sido usados como alimento por las culturas étnicas mexicanas, en su mayoría son de recolección y constituyen un valor socioeconómico importante ya que son objeto de intensa comercialización. Los hongos comestibles son muy abundantes en los bosques templados, principalmente en los de pino y encino. Teziutlan es una comunidad que esta ubicado en la sierra nororiental del estado de Puebla, México. Con una vegetación de encino y pino por lo que presenta gran diversidad de hongos comestible y representa un recurso fitogenético no maderable con importancia económica y alimenticia para los grupos indígenas que se desarrollan en las localidades de dicho Región. En el presente libro se da información sobre los hongos que se desarrollan de manera silvestre en la Región de Teziutlán Puebla, sus usos, tipos, importancia ecológica, económica, religiosa y valores nutrimentales los cuales se abordan en cuatro capítulos.
