La fécondation in vitro vise à aider les couples qui ont des difficultés à obtenir une progéniture par le biais d’une conception hors de l’utérus. Le problème évoqué dans ce livre est lié au statut embryonnaire des embryons surnuméraires. La relation éthique avec l’embryon restant d’un tube réside dans le fait qu’en Indonésie, le tube embryonnaire restant qui n’est pas utilisé par les parents du propriétaire de l’embryon doit être détruit. L’embryon n’a-t-il pas droit à la vie ? D’un point de vue juridique, le statut embryonnaire de la FIV restante peut être attribué aux droits de l’homme. Les droits de l’homme comprennent le droit de vivre et de se maintenir en vie. Les droits de l’homme ne touchent-ils pas le droit à la vie des êtres humains sous forme d’embryons?
