Mamou Koné was driven by a desire to contribute to the preservation of a cultural heritage whose practitioners-the storytellers-were disappearing. She was also guided by a pedagogical concern: to preserve educational content particularly valuable for schools, families, and the socialization of children and young people. More than twenty years after this collection of tales, she undertook, in collaboration with La Sahélienne, to publish a selection of them in four volumes. La Sahélienne Edition is proud to support this publishing project by our sister Mamou Koné. This volume, the first in the series, contains the following Nsiirin stories:- The beautiful Fatimata and the man without scars- A lonely, poor old woman- The great mahogany tree and the orphan- The great hyena and the hare- The hunter in search of the enchanted Kora

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
