Diese Studie untersucht den Einfluss kultureller Empathie als Mittel zur Bewältigung der durch den Multikulturalismus verursachten Probleme. Es wird angenommen, dass durch die Anwendung einer künstlerischen Intervention, dem kollektiven Porträt, das Empathieniveau steigt und dazu beiträgt, eine kollektive Identität zu schaffen. Die verwendeten Instrumente (Feeling & Thinking und Read the Mind in the Eyes Test) geben uns zwei verschiedene Perspektiven, aus denen wir Empathie bewerten können: das Erkennen von Emotionen bei sich selbst und das Erkennen von Emotionen bei anderen durch deren Gesichtsausdruck. Für diese Studie wurden 18 Kinder im Alter zwischen 8 und 11 Jahren aus einem Schulbezirk in South Bay rekrutiert. Nur 12 Kinder schlossen die Tests ab. Angesichts der geringen Stichprobengröße sind die Ergebnisse dieser Studie statistisch nicht signifikant. Die Studie gibt jedoch wichtige Empfehlungen für die Eignung der Instrumente, Methoden und Materialien, die in einer Folgestudie verwendet werden sollten.
