Badanie fantastyki od dawna opiera się na dziełach pisanych. Niemniej jednak niektóre prace badały ją na podstawie tradycji, która jest jednym ze źródeł literatury benińskiej. Oparliśmy nasze badania na kulcie wuuru praktykowanym przez Baatombu z wassa-pehunco. Umożliwiło nam to zbadanie niektórych aspektów fantazji. Badanie to ujawniło, że kult wuuru mobilizuje zestaw faktów, które zanurzają nas w świat fantastyki. Zaczęliśmy od Goyeru, które jest punktem wyjścia dla tego kultu. Nasze badania skupiły się na wuu kpĩbu, wuu siã suivi, wuu bo i wuu bueu sikiabu. Nasze badanie było również ukierunkowane na niektóre tematy regularnie wybierane w badaniach nad fantastyką w dziełach literackich. Nasza analiza wykazała, że większość z tych motywów ma swoje odpowiedniki w kulcie wuuru. Wreszcie, badanie skupiło się na funkcjach kultu wuuru w społeczeństwie.
