Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza kontrkultury jako ruchu na rzecz transformacji społecznej z wiersza Howl amerykańskiego pisarza Allena Ginsberga, uważanego za skowyt młodzieży z połowy lat pięćdziesiątych XX wieku, która była niezadowolona z obecnego establishmentu w instytucjach społecznych, pod silnym wpływem mrocznego kontekstu okresu po II wojnie światowej. Biorąc pod uwagę, że poezja Ginsberga jest wciąż mało zbadana, otwiera to możliwość zrozumienia elementów składających się na amerykańską kontrkulturę poprzez nią, zwłaszcza że jest to literatura awangardowa, nie tylko w celu zrozumienia kontekstu, w którym powstał ruch, którego Ginsberg był aktywnym członkiem, Beat Generation. Z pewnością otwiera to możliwość zrozumienia początkowej formacji kontrkultury w kompleksowy sposób, a także przyszłych ruchów kontrkulturowych, które pojawiły się po beatach, ponieważ były one prekursorami pod względem manifestacji mających na celu zakwestionowanie status quo swoich czasów.
