Dabei ist zu überprüfen, inwieweit die Begriffe Konsistenz und Integrität aus anderen Forschungs- und Anwendungsbereichen auf Workflow-Management übertragen werden können. Im Zusammenspiel mit Konsistenzbedingungen und Anpassungsrechten sind Mechanismen zu entwickeln, mit denen diese Einschränkungen modelliert werden können. Während der Ausführung müssen sie dann überprüfbar sein, insbesondere um die Zuverlässigkeit von Anpassungen in geeigneter Weise kontrollieren zu können.
