Badania przeprowadzono w oborze mlecznej Uniwersytetu Rolniczego im. dr. Balasaheba Sawanta Konkan, położonej w regionie Konkan w stanie Maharasztra w Indiach. Region ten charakteryzuje się średnią roczną sumą opadów wynoszącą 3500 mm oraz gorącym i wilgotnym klimatem. W związku z tym krowy są przez cały rok trzymane w oborze uwięzionej. Prowadzi to do zmniejszenia produkcji mleka przez krowy. W związku z tym podjęto badania mające na celu poprawę komfortu krów poprzez umieszczenie ich na podłodze betonowej i matach gumowych.
