Niniejsze studium bada złożoność ról przywódczych kobiet w społecznościach religijnych, analizując bariery teologiczne, doktrynalne, instytucjonalne i kulturowe, które utrudniają im awans. Wykorzystując podejście jakościowe, dane zostały zebrane ze środowisk chrześcijańskich, muzułmańskich, tradycjonalistycznych i hinduskich i przeanalizowane poprzez analizę tematyczną wywiadów. Wyniki badań pokazują, że teologiczne uzasadnienia, często zakorzenione w świętych tekstach i interpretacjach zdominowanych przez mężczyzn, służą jako główny czynnik wykluczający. Teolożki feministyczne opowiadają się za bardziej inkluzywną interpretacją, która potwierdza duchowy autorytet kobiet. Opór instytucjonalny również odgrywa kluczową rolę, a struktury hierarchiczne utrzymują tradycyjne normy. Demokratyczne modele zarządzania wykazują jednak większą otwartość na kobiece przywództwo. Dynamika kulturowa dodatkowo kształtuje akceptację, ponieważ postawy społeczne wobec ról płciowych wpływają na możliwości kobiet w przywództwie religijnym. Badanie podkreśla potrzebę ponownego rozważenia tych barier w celu wspierania bardziej sprawiedliwego i integracyjnego krajobrazu przywództwa religijnego.
