Know Your Enemies

Spiritual warfare is real, but it is frequently misunderstood. Some believers attribute every struggle to Satan. Others dismiss spiritual conflict entirely. Scripture affirms neither extreme. In Know Your Enemies, Dr. Jean Marc Joseph presents a redemptive-historical and canonically grounded theology of spiritual warfare from Genesis to Revelation. Rather than fear-driven speculation or sensationalism, this work carefully distinguishes the three adversaries Scripture identifies: Satan, the personal spiritual accuser; the flesh, the internal Adamic corruption that resists the Spirit; and the world, the fallen system of values and loyalties opposed to God.Misidentifying these enemies produces confusion, misplaced resistance, and spiritual imbalance. When believers externalize what Scripture locates internally, or internalize what Scripture identifies as cosmic opposition, they weaken both assurance and obedience. This book restores biblical clarity. Anchored especially in Romans 8 and framed within the finished work of Christ, Know Your Enemies demonstrates that believers do not fight for victory, but from victory. The cross has decisively disarmed the ruler of this age, the Spirit empowers mortification of the flesh, and union with Christ secures ultimate triumph. Written with pastoral conviction and theological precision, this volume serves both serious students of Scripture and everyday believers seeking doctrinal stability in a confused spiritual landscape.Dr. Jean Marc Joseph holds a PhD from Rutgers University and writes at the intersection of biblical theology, spiritual formation, and disciplined Christian discipleship. He is the founder of Dr. Jean Marc Evangelistic Ministry and author of The True Path to Heaven: A Theological and Philosophical Examination of Salvation and Truth. Who do people say the Holy Spirit really is? The Consummation of all Things (Eschatology). The Battle Is Real. The Enemies Are Distinct. The Victory Is Christ’s.
