Trong giảng luận này tôi chỉ giới thiệu phần sơ thảo về một nghiên cứu chuyên sâu về nguồn gốc và lịch sử phát triển kinh Phật qua các thời đại. Mục đích cụ thể là cung cấp tài liệu và thông tin cần thiết giúp người học Phật có tâm đức và thiện chí hơn là nhắm vào mục đích phổ biến trong quần chúng bình dân. Luận văn này chỉ là phác họa của một đề án lớn đã hoàn thành gồm cả thủ thư về các cổ ngữ Phật giáo. Rất mong khi phương tiện cho phép và nhân duyên thích hợp tôi sẽ còng giới thiệu đầy đủ phần nghiên cứu chi tiết.
