This work explores the possibility of reconstructing an ecclesial response to challenging issues. The underpinning of such an approach is the kenotic notion in the hymn of Christ. Thecontextual evidence, however, supportsthevalidityofkenosis to be normative for the entire church. The fundamental aspect ofthe kenotic attitude is its voluntary gesture along with the self-sacrificialtendency that is not dependent by any means on coercive power. Yet,the kenotic notion reflects a consequential understanding which is informed by the telos oftheact. All in all, a sincere kenoticunderstanding could be a standard ofexcellence in the assessment of thechurch’sresponses to various ethical issues. This willempower the Scripture’s stanceinthe lifeofthe church ascentral, yet on a hermeneutical grounding.
